In November 2002 I was walking through the Festival of the Master’s at Disney admiring all of the beautiful artwork. I have always been attracted to artwork of all mediums, especially glass. This particular art show had quite a few glass artists and at that time, I decided I wanted to try to bring out the artist in me. I wanted to work with glass. So, I went on the internet looking for a class I could take to learn anything I could about it.

That is when I found Mr. Beady Glass Art (now known as Flametree Glass), right here in Orlando. I took a beginner class with Lance and Maureen McRorie by the end of that month, thus starting my obsession. I signed up for every class being offered. I wanted to learn everything! I took a murinni cane class with Beth Olsen and then a borosilicate class with Ray Olsen. Travis Tyler taught a class on blown ornaments and Beth came back with a Tiger Murinni class that I just couldn't pass up.

Then I braved the big one. Loren Stump came to teach a 5 day class in Orlando only 9 months after I first sat in front of a torch. Talk about nerve wracking! Although grueling, (the slave driver that Loren is) it was a great class and extremely informative.

Sharon Peters also taught a wonderful class. I learned a lot about creativity with my work and she opened me to up to new ideas about the crazy creatures I can bring into this world.

Leah Fairbanks and Kimberly Affleck both taught wonderful classes that also inspired my new designs.

Because of all of these wonderful teachers and influences I have had great success. One of my fish beads is on display at the Kobe Lampwork Glass Museum in Kobe Japan. Many bead stores around the country, and the world, sell my beads. They can also be found at the Orlando Museum of Art and the Arts Afire Glass Gallery in Alexandria, VA.

This is just the start of my beading journey, but I know it will take me to amazing places! Thank you for your support and encouragement.
