Hi everyone! My name is Tammy Osczepinski Kerber and I am the owner and lampwork artist here at T-Beads, LLC.
My beading journey began in 2002 and it was a rather interesting start considering where I am with it today. I was wandering through an art show admiring all of the artist glass - pumpkins, vases, figures and more. It was then I decided that I wanted to take a class to learn how to melt glass. I searched online and found a place here in Orlando, FL who taught lampworking. A week later I showed up for class, not knowing what to expect - I thought we would be making little figurines or something. Nope. We made beads. BEADS!? Really? I took this class and had a great time. I loved every minute of it and couldn't wait to go back and make more - but beads? What was I going to do with a bunch of beads? Lol. The shop owners, Maureen and Lance McRory of Mr. Beady (now, Flametree Glass in Roswell, GA) told me all about bead stores, bead shows and even beading conventions. I honestly had no idea. I was 25 at the time and while I was always crafty and loved art, I was new to the world of beads. Maureen showed me how to make jewelry and all of the components I needed. Wow! This was fun.
I went back to the shop 4-5 days a week to rent torch time and play with glass. They brought it a bunch of nationally known teachers and I took all of the classes. I was like a sponge soaking up all of the different techniques. I was hooked. I started to do a few art shows with my finished jewelry and then some bead shows with the tons of beads I was making. The big leap came in 2004 when I quit my "real" job to make beads and do shows full time. I guess you can say the rest is history.
Since then I've been traveling the country with my husband selling beads, leather, findings and a multitude of artist beads. I am truly happy to have found my passion and have been able to sustain a business with it. And I am so grateful to all of my amazing customers who continue to support my small business. Thank you!!
